Description

The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system; to optimize playing conditions through correct water management.

Maintains and operates the golf course irrigation system to provide optimum turf conditions
• Programs irrigation controllers and central computer
• Troubleshoots & corrects electrical faults in the irrigation control systems and pump stations
• Uses independent judgment and discretion in determining proper irrigation strategies to achieve optimum playing conditions on the course
• Operates a wide range of standard golf course maintenance equipment and performs routine and non-routine maintenance tasks
• Performs general maintenance on pump station, ozone diffusion system, wells, aerators, and golf course re-circulation pumps
• Communicates effectively with the golfing public, and other staff members
• Assists in projects that may include irrigation changes and drainage improvements to ensure the success of the project
• Assists in preparing golf course for major events
• Works with Assistant Maintenance Supervisor and Mechanic to complete common goals
• Assists in budget preparation and monitoring
• Uses resource sharing to solve problems when needed
• Records and logs water usage and pump station performance at required intervals
• Communicates with venders and service representatives
• Looks for ways to improve the playability and appearance of the course and communicates ideas to supervisor
• Maintains inventory of commonly used irrigation parts and orders irrigation parts and supplies
• Diagnoses common problems that may occur on the golf course and reports to supervisor if unable to correct
• Promotes a culture of safety in the workplace and reports safety hazards when observed
