Description

Job Responsibilities
A diesel mechanic for Diesel Generator (DG) sets and industrial engines is responsible for ensuring the reliability of critical power systems through systematic inspection, troubleshooting, and repair. Their role bridges mechanical expertise with a foundational understanding of electrical control systems.

Core Maintenance Responsibilities
• Preventative Maintenance (PM): Performing scheduled services such as changing engine oil, replacing fuel, air, and water filters, and checking coolant levels.
• System Inspections: Checking critical components daily or weekly, including battery electrolyte levels, fan belt tension, and cooling system integrity to prevent overheating.
• Fuel System Care: Draining water from fuel-water separators, inspecting fuel lines for leaks, and cleaning or replacing fuel injectors.
• Load Bank Testing: Periodically testing generators under load (typically at least 30% of rated capacity) to prevent "wet stacking" and ensure the unit can handle emergency power demands.
Diagnostic and Repair Duties
• Troubleshooting: Utilizing diagnostic software and tools like voltmeters or pressure gauges to identify the root cause of mechanical or electrical malfunctions.
• Major Engine Overhauls: Disassembling, repairing, and reassembling major engine components such as cylinder heads, liners, pistons, and turbochargers.
• Electrical & Control Systems: Inspecting and repairing automatic transfer switches (ATS), voltage regulators, control panels, and safety shutoff mechanisms (e.g., low oil pressure or high temperature alarms).
• Emergency Response: Providing rapid field repairs for stationary equipment during unexpected power outages or equipment breakdowns.
Administrative and Safety Tasks
• Record Keeping: Maintaining detailed logs of all service work, parts usage, and equipment performance to ensure compliance with standards like NFPA 110.
• Safety Compliance: Adhering to strict lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to manage electrical and mechanical hazards.
• Inventory Management: Identifying and ordering necessary replacement parts and maintaining an organized workshop or service truck.
• Ensure all works meet project specifications, QA/QC requirements, and local authority regulations.
• Coordinate with consultants, engineers, and QA/QC inspectors for inspections and approvals.
• Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are used and stored safely.
• Any other reports or tasks as directed by the Management as and when required.
Salary & emoluments: Basic 1500-2300 SAR + Incentives + FATI & Overtime by Company as per Saudi Laws.
