Job Summary
The Storekeeper is responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and controlling all raw materials, hardware, accessories, and finished goods used in furniture manufacturing. The role ensures accurate inventory management, proper material handling, stock reconciliation, and timely support to production teams while minimizing wastage and loss.

Key Responsibilities
1. Material Receiving
• Receive raw materials, including:
o Timber, Plywood, MDF, veneer
o Laminates, edge bands
o Hardware (hinges, slides, handles, screws)
o Upholstery materials (foam, fabric, leather)
o Paints, polish, and adhesives

• Verify quantity and quality against purchase orders and delivery notes.
• Prepare Goods Receipt Note (GRN).
• Report damaged or short materials immediately.

2. Inventory Control
• Maintain accurate stock records (manual or ERP system).
• Update daily stock entries for received and issued materials.
• Conduct regular stock counts (weekly/monthly).
• Reconcile physical stock with system records.
• Maintain minimum and maximum stock levels.

3. Material Issuing
• Issue materials only against approved Material Requisition (MR).
• Ensure correct quantity is issued as per cutting list or job order.
• Maintain proper documentation for all issued items.
• Monitor high-value and fast-moving items.

4. Storage & Organization
• Arrange materials systematically for easy identification.
• Ensure proper stacking of wood sheets and boards.
• Maintain separate storage areas for hardware, upholstery, and finishing materials.
• Protect materials from moisture, damage, and contamination.
• Maintain clean and safe warehouse environment.

5. Coordination with Departments
• Coordinate with Purchase for stock shortages.
• Support Production team with urgent material requirements.
• Inform management about slow-moving or excess stock.
• Coordinate with accounts for inventory reporting.

6. Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain:
o GRN records
o Material Issue Notes
o Stock Ledger
o Delivery Notes for finished goods
• Prepare monthly inventory report.
• Report stock discrepancies to management.

7. Health & Safety Compliance
• Follow safety standards for warehouse operations.
• Ensure safe loading and unloading.
• Maintain fire safety and chemical storage compliance.
• Ensure proper use of lifting equipment.

Required Skills & Competencies
• Knowledge of furniture raw materials and hardware.
• Basic understanding of inventory management principles (FIFO, stock control).
• Familiarity with ERP or inventory software (preferred).
• Good numerical accuracy and record-keeping skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.

Experience & Qualifications
• 3–7 years of experience in storekeeping, preferably in furniture/joinery manufacturing.
• Diploma or relevant qualification preferred.
• Experience in ERP systems is an advantage.
