Job Title: Valve Technician
Job Summary
The Valve Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, testing, and overhaul of industrial valves to ensure safe and reliable operation. The role supports plant operations by minimizing downtime and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Inspect, disassemble, repair, assemble, and test various types of valves (gate, globe, ball, check, control, safety/relief valves, etc.)
• Perform valve maintenance, lapping, pressure testing, calibration, and troubleshooting
• Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and valve specifications
• Diagnose valve failures and recommend corrective actions
• Operate valve testing equipment and specialized tools safely
• Ensure all work complies with safety procedures, company standards, and industry codes
• Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and test records
• Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and operations teams as needed
• Support shutdowns, turnarounds, and emergency repair work
• Maintain good housekeeping in the workshop and work areas
Qualifications & Experience
• Technical diploma or vocational training in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 2–5 years of experience as a Valve Technician or similar mechanical role
• Experience working with industrial valves in oil & gas, petrochemical, power, or industrial plants (preferred)
• Knowledge of valve standards (API, ASME, ANSI) is an advantage
Skills & Competencies
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and valve testing equipment
• Good understanding of safety procedures and permit-to-work systems
• Attention to detail and quality-focused mindset
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physically fit and able to work in industrial environments
Working Conditions
• Workshop and field-based work
• May require shift work, overtime, or site assignments
• Exposure to industrial equipment, noise, and varying weather conditions
