Planning Engineer Job Description
1-Resource loaded Baseline Schedules and resource management
Material Procurement Schedules and tracking.
2-Review baseline schedules and progress from subcontractors
Manpower Histogram, S-Curve, Progress Tracking
Daily, Weekly, bi-weekly and monthly progress reports
Look ahead plans
Delay analysis.
3-Recovery and revised schedules
Extension of Time (EOT) claims
Presentation for stakeholders
Risk management and mitigation strategies.
4-Conducts customer/engineering meetings to discuss rail and site development issues
5-Support the planning and monitoring of all activities within the Engineering project programmers
6-Manage the interface between the engineering aspects of the programmer and the operational staff through structured meetings, programmer and progress reporting
7-Update and report progress of the project at regular intervals to the Engineering Manager, Planning Manager and Project Manager
8-Produces practicable CAD engineering plans and cost estimates for the extension of industrial sidings into plant sites and buildings ensuring optimal utilization of customer's site
9-Provides technical railroad engineering expertise to the department and industrial prospects
10-Manage the interface between the programmer and the operational staff through structured meetings, programmer and progress reporting
11-Identify programmer risks and propose mitigation strategies
12-Identify programmer opportunities and propose capture strategies
13-Have a working knowledge of primavera preferably on power & transmission projects

Qualifications for planning engineer
• Degree qualified with an engineering degree in any relevant discipline
• JNCIA (Juniper Network Certified Associate)
• ETCP (Ericsson Technical Certification Program)
• API XML/JSON
• Technical or Business degree from a 4-year college or university
• Minimum of 8 years of practical experience in a complex, multi-site manufacturing environment

Responsibilities for planning engineer
• Verifies critical path and interfaces between design/ engineering/ procurement / execution
• Participate in and support PIN Approval, Gate Approval, Project Execution Plan, Risk Management, Change Management, Commissioning and Handover processes/procedures, Claim Management and related activities in order to ensure successful execution and timely completion of the project scope
• Prepare Engineering Deliverables with milestone dates
• Provide input on project control procedures, such as planning & scheduling, progress reporting, progress measurement, to achieve a successful project control system during the scope of the project
• Communicate and coordinate with the Project Services team, Project Managers & Project team to ensure alignment in the areas of engineering, contract management, cost control, legal, procurement, budget and document control services to achieve project goals during the scope of the project
• Analyzes continually the existing network to drive toward the most up to date and reliable network
• Works directly with vendors on tactical issues that arise during the course of daily ongoing activities
• Serves as the primary budget creation point of contact for our financial group within the Global Operations and Shared Services organization
• Supports and executes manufacturing strategy and the key customer service elements of it
• Runs periodic data integrity reports and corrects system and data entry errors.
