Job Description – Mechanical Engineer
Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Department: Engineering / Technical Department
Reports To: Engineering Manager / Project Manager

1. Job Purpose
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, reviewing, and supervising mechanical systems for construction and prefabricated building projects. The role ensures that all mechanical installations, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, and other related systems, comply with project specifications, applicable standards, safety requirements, and client expectations.
2. Key Responsibilities and Duties
1. Prepare, review, and develop mechanical engineering drawings, layouts, and technical specifications.
2. Design and coordinate HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems according to project requirements.
3. Review mechanical drawings and ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, and applicable standards.
4. Coordinate with Civil, Structural, Electrical, and Architectural Engineering teams to ensure proper integration of mechanical systems.
5. Prepare material submittals, technical documents, calculations, and equipment schedules for client approval.
6. Conduct technical assessments and provide engineering solutions to project-related mechanical issues.
7. Coordinate with Procurement and Suppliers regarding mechanical materials, equipment, and technical specifications.
8. Monitor mechanical installation activities at the factory and project site to ensure compliance with approved drawings and quality standards.
9. Conduct inspections and ensure that mechanical works are completed according to project requirements.
10. Review shop drawings, as-built drawings, and technical submissions.
11. Assist in preparing method statements, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and risk assessments related to mechanical works.
12. Identify design conflicts and propose appropriate technical solutions.
13. Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, testing, commissioning, and project handover.
14. Ensure that mechanical systems comply with relevant local regulations, international standards, and safety requirements.
15. Maintain proper documentation and records of mechanical designs, approvals, inspections, and revisions.
3. Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the construction industry.
- Experience in modular and prefabricated building projects is an advantage.
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting systems.
- Familiarity with Saudi Building Code (SBC) and applicable international engineering standards.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other engineering design software.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of testing, commissioning, and mechanical installation procedures.
