An Industrial Electrician in an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) company installs, tests, maintains, and troubleshoots complex electrical, power distribution, and automation systems during major industrial construction and infrastructure projects (such as oil and gas plants, power stations, or heavy manufacturing sites)
Core Duties and Responsibilities
• Preventive Maintenance: Run regular check-ups on panels, transformers, motors, generators, and lighting systems to stop breakdowns before they happen.
• Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Use multimeters, test kits, and diagnostic software to locate electrical faults, short circuits, or wiring failures.
• Repair and Replacement: Fix or replace broken switches, receptacles, circuit breakers, fuses, relays, and damaged wiring.
• System Installation and Upgrades: Install new circuits, lighting fixtures, control panels, or equipment additions as facility needs change.
• Emergency Response: Act quickly during power outages or equipment failures to evaluate downtime and restore operations.
• Blueprint and Schematic Interpretation: Read technical diagrams, blueprints, and electrical manuals to trace and service complex systems.
• Safety and Code Compliance: Follow local electrical codes, industry standards, and safety rules like lockout/tagout (LOTO) and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
• Record Keeping: Log maintenance activities, track spare parts usage, and document inspections in shift reports.
Key Qualifications & Requirements
• Education & Training: High school diploma or vocational/technical training; completion of a formal electrical apprenticeship.
• Licensing & Certification: Valid Journeyman or Master Electrician license, alongside site safety/specialized certifications (e.g., NFPA 70E, CESCP).
• EPC Experience: Proven field experience working within large-scale industrial construction, oil & gas, or power plant EPC environments.
• Technical Skills: Familiarity with heavy industrial equipment, medium-voltage terminations, grounding grids, and basic familiarity with tools like AutoCAD or ETAP (often used on-site for markups or verification).
• Physical & Environmental Stamina: Ability to work outdoors, in confined spaces, at heights, and in demanding or remote project site conditions.
