Location: Riyadh - KSA
We are seeking an experienced Civil / Architectural QA/QC Engineer to join our site team on a major building construction project. The role is responsible for ensuring that all civil and architectural works comply with project specifications, approved drawings, ITPs, applicable codes, and quality standards throughout the construction lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will manage and execute the full range of civil and architectural quality control activities on a daily basis. Typical daily and ongoing responsibilities include:
Daily Planning & Coordination
• Review the daily work programme, method statements, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) at the start of each shift.
• Attend morning coordination / toolbox meetings with construction, site supervision, and other discipline teams.
• Identify upcoming inspection hold/witness points and schedule them in advance.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives for joint inspections.
Material & Incoming Quality Control
• Inspect and verify all incoming materials (cement, aggregates, steel reinforcement, formwork, blocks, waterproofing membranes, tiles, doors, windows, finishes, etc.) against approved material submittals and delivery notes.
• Ensure proper storage, handling, and protection of materials on site.
• Reject non-conforming materials and raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) as required.
Civil & Structural / Concreting Inspections
• Perform pre-pour inspections: formwork (alignment, dimensions, bracing, cleanliness), reinforcement (size, spacing, cover, laps, chairs, clean conditions), embedded items, and construction joints.
• Monitor concrete pours: check mix design compliance, slump/temperature tests, placement methods, vibration, cold joints, and finishing.
• Supervise sampling of concrete cubes/cylinders and ensure proper curing and testing.
• Conduct post-pour inspections: surface finish, curing application, striking of formwork, and dimensional checks.
• Inspect foundations, columns, beams, slabs, retaining walls, and other structural elements for compliance.
• Monitor curing regimes, protection of fresh concrete, and early-age strength development.
Architectural Inspections
• Inspect blockwork / masonry (alignment, bonding, mortar quality, openings, movement joints).
• Check waterproofing systems (membranes, coatings, detailing at joints, penetrations, and upstands) before covering.
• Inspect plastering, rendering, tiling, flooring, false ceilings, doors, windows, ironmongery, and architectural finishes.
• Verify dimensional accuracy, level, plumb, and aesthetic quality of architectural works.
• Inspect interfaces between architectural works and MEP / structural elements.
Civil Works (Site-wide)
• Inspect earthworks, excavation, backfilling, compaction, and drainage systems where applicable.
• Check external works, roads, pavements, landscaping interfaces, and utility trenches for quality and compliance.
Documentation, Reporting & Non-Conformances
• Complete inspection checklists and maintain accurate quality records in real time.
• Raise, track, and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Observation Reports, and corrective action requests.
• Prepare daily QA/QC reports, inspection summaries, and material test result tracking.
• Support preparation of quality dossiers, as-built documentation, and handover packages.
• Ensure all inspections are properly signed off before works proceed to the next stage.
Compliance, Safety & Continuous Improvement
• Ensure all inspection activities comply with project HSE requirements and site safety rules.
• Promote a quality culture on site and provide constructive feedback to construction teams.
• Participate in internal and external quality audits.
• Support the closing of punch lists and final handover inspections.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5–8 years of relevant QA/QC experience on building construction projects (high-rise, commercial, institutional, or similar preferred).
• Strong practical knowledge of concreting processes, formwork, reinforcement, structural elements, and architectural finishes.
• Familiarity with international codes and standards (ACI, BS, ASTM, local building codes, etc.) and project-specific specifications.
• Experience with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, material submittals, and quality documentation systems.
• Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings accurately.
• Good communication and coordination skills with site teams, consultants, and clients.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and common site quality management software/tools.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to work full-time on site.
Preferred
• Previous experience on large-scale or fast-track building projects.
• Certification in quality management or concrete technology is an advantage.
• Experience working with international consultants or under FIDIC-type contracts.
This is a hands-on site-based role requiring daily presence during critical activities such as concrete pours and architectural inspections. The position demands strong attention to detail, proactive planning, and the ability to maintain high quality standards under construction programme pressures.
