LEAD MECHANICAL ENGINEER
Position: Lead Mechanical Engineer – Key Personnel
Project: Major Oil & Gas / Temporary Construction Facilities Project
Location: Saudi Arabia
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to lead and coordinate all mechanical activities throughout the Project lifecycle, covering engineering, procurement, subcontracting, construction support, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
The successful candidate will serve as the primary mechanical technical focal point between Project Management, Engineering Consultant, SAPMT/PMT, Procurement, Construction, vendors, and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project requirements, Saudi Aramco standards, applicable codes, and approved engineering documents.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 12+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, preferably in major Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Utilities, Infrastructure, or Saudi Aramco projects.
• Strong experience in EPC/EPCM project execution, from design through procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Proven experience with HVAC systems, plumbing and drainage systems, water supply systems, fire water systems, sanitary systems, STP, pumps, tanks, mechanical utility systems, and packaged mechanical equipment.
• Strong knowledge of Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards, Material System Specifications, SAES, SAMSS, SAEP and applicable ASME, API, NFPA, SMACNA, ASHRAE, IPC and other relevant standards.
• Demonstrated experience in coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities, particularly Civil/Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, Architectural and HSE interfaces.
• Strong technical and commercial awareness with the ability to support fast-track project execution.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and coordinate all mechanical engineering activities and ensure timely completion of design deliverables.
• Review Mechanical Design Basis, equipment sizing, calculations, layouts, specifications, P&IDs, equipment schedules and mechanical drawings.
• Review and coordinate HVAC, plumbing, drainage, water supply, sanitary, fire water, STP and mechanical utility systems.
• Coordinate mechanical interfaces with Civil/Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, Architectural and HSE disciplines, including equipment foundations, supports, equipment rooms, penetrations, drainage and utility connections.
• Identify mechanical long-lead materials/equipment and procurement priorities and support procurement planning.
• Prepare and/or review Material Requisitions (MRs), technical specifications, data sheets and RFQ technical packages for mechanical equipment and materials.
• Prepare and/or review Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs) for mechanical equipment, materials, vendors and specialist packages.
• Prepare and/or review technical evaluations of mechanical subcontractors, including scope of work, technical proposals, qualifications, methodologies, deviations and compliance with project requirements.
• Review vendor and subcontractor technical documents, drawings, calculations, equipment data sheets, ITPs, method statements and technical submissions.
• Review technical proposals for HVAC systems, pumps, tanks, STP packages, fire water equipment and other mechanical packages.
• Respond to technical clarifications, TQs and RFIs and ensure timely closure of SAPMT/PMT comments.
• Provide technical support to Construction and resolve mechanical engineering, installation and equipment-related issues.
• Review mechanical changes and assess their impact on engineering, procurement, quantities, cost and construction.
• Support mechanical equipment inspection, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities.
• Monitor mechanical engineering and procurement progress and proactively identify technical, procurement and schedule risks.
• Maintain effective coordination with Project Management, Designer, Procurement, QA/QC, Construction, vendors and subcontractors.

• Excellent knowledge of mechanical engineering and project execution.
• Strong MR, RFQ and TBE preparation/evaluation experience.
• Strong subcontractor and vendor technical evaluation capability.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire water, STP, pumps, tanks and mechanical utility systems.
• Excellent multidisciplinary coordination and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively under fast-track project schedules.
• Strong knowledge of Saudi Aramco project requirements and technical documentation.
• Ability to identify technical risks and provide practical, constructible solutions.
Preferred Experience
Experience in Saudi Aramco projects, temporary construction facilities, camps, HVAC systems, STP, fire water systems, utilities, packaged mechanical equipment, pumps, tanks and associated infrastructure will be highly advantageous.
