1. Job Purpose
To ensure the continuous, safe and hygienic operation of plant production equipment and utilities by carrying out equipment operation, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and troubleshooting activities during the assigned shift.
The role covers mechanical systems, HVAC and in-house electrical maintenance, while ensuring full compliance with food safety, hygiene and HSE requirements.
Operate, monitor and maintain plant equipment including boilers (Thermax or equivalent), steam distribution systems, air compressors and dryers, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, conveyors, chillers, kitchen equipment, water treatment systems and rotating machinery.
Safely perform equipment start-up and shutdown procedures.
Monitor and record operating parameters including pressure, temperature, flow, vibration and current in shift logs.
Diagnose mechanical and process-related faults and carry out structured troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime.
Perform mechanical repairs involving bearings, seals, couplings, gearboxes, belts, chains, alignment and lubrication.
Carry out basic fabrication and repair work where required.
Support production operations, including processing, filling, packing and CIP activities.
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and maintenance calls during the assigned shift.
Monitor boiler water treatment, blowdown, fuel/gas systems and compressed-air quality.
2.2 Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
Execute scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) activities accurately and within the required timelines.
Raise, update and close maintenance work orders through CMMS or maintenance log systems.
Perform corrective maintenance and support planned shutdowns, overhauls, equipment installations and modification projects.
Monitor spare-parts usage and raise requisitions for critical spare parts.
2.3 HVAC & Refrigeration
Monitor and maintain HVAC and refrigeration systems serving production, storage and cold-chain areas.
Maintain and monitor chillers, AHUs, FCUs, split units, cold rooms, ventilation and exhaust systems.
Monitor and record temperature, humidity and pressure differentials in food-safety-critical areas.
Immediately report and escalate any abnormal readings or deviations.
Perform HVAC preventive maintenance, including:
Filter replacement and cleaning
Coil cleaning
Belt and motor inspection
Drain-line cleaning
Refrigerant level and leak checks
Condenser and evaporator inspection
Coordinate with external HVAC contractors for specialized maintenance work and verify the quality of completed work.
2.4 Electrical Maintenance
Perform routine low-voltage electrical maintenance on motors, starters, contactors, relays, overloads, control panels, lighting, socket circuits, sensors, cable routing and field instruments.
Troubleshoot electrical faults using appropriate measuring instruments such as multimeters and clamp meters.
Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Carry out basic VFD-related activities, including parameter checks, fault resets and replacement.
Apply basic PLC awareness for fault identification and escalation.
Follow Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and permit-to-work procedures at all times.
Do not perform work on high-voltage systems without proper authorization.
2.5 Documentation, Food Safety & HSE
Maintain accurate shift logs, equipment history records and maintenance checklists.
Complete proper shift handovers to ensure continuity of maintenance activities.
Comply with HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP and plant hygiene requirements.
Use food-grade lubricants and approved materials in product-contact areas.
Follow all HSE procedures and use the required PPE.
Report near-misses, unsafe conditions and incidents.
Participate in safety and 5S activities.
3. Minimum Requirements
Category Requirement
Education Diploma / ITI in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Industrial Maintenance Engineering. Bachelor's degree is an advantage.
Experience 4–8 years of plant maintenance experience, preferably within food, beverage or FMCG manufacturing.
Boiler Experience Hands-on boiler operation and maintenance experience. Valid boiler operator certification is preferred. Thermax boiler experience is a strong advantage.
Multi-Skilled Maintenance Must be genuinely multi-skilled, with mechanical maintenance experience and practical in-house electrical capability.
HVAC Proven experience in HVAC monitoring and preventive maintenance.
Technical Skills Ability to read P&IDs, mechanical drawings and electrical schematics. Competent in using hand tools, power tools and measuring instruments.
Shift Work Willing and physically fit to work 12-hour rotating day/night shifts, including weekends, public holidays and callouts.
Language Working English, both written and spoken.
Legal Status Valid and transferable Iqama for candidates already in KSA. Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) registration where applicable. Saudi nationals are encouraged to apply.
Physical Requirements Able to work at heights, in confined spaces and in hot/humid plant conditions, and able to safely lift and handle equipment.
4. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with CMMS platforms such as SAP PM, Maximo or similar.
Welding, fabrication and pipefitting skills.
Refrigeration or cold-room maintenance certification.
VFD configuration and basic PLC troubleshooting skills.
HSE certification such as NEBOSH, OSHA or IOSH.
Food safety training.
Previous experience working in a 24/7 continuous-operation plant.
