HVAC Design Engineer – Petrochemical / Refinery / Oil & Gas

Location: Saudi Arabia
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced HVAC Design Engineer with strong experience in Petrochemical, Refinery, Oil & Gas, or other industrial projects. The candidate will be responsible for HVAC engineering and design activities from concept and detailed engineering through to project execution, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Perform HVAC system design and engineering for Petrochemical, Refinery, Oil & Gas and industrial facilities.
Prepare and review HVAC design calculations, equipment sizing, heat-load calculations, and system selections.
Develop HVAC layouts, ducting layouts, piping layouts, equipment layouts, sections, and details.
Prepare and review HVAC engineering drawings, specifications, datasheets, schedules, and material requisitions.
Design and select HVAC systems including AHUs, FCUs, package units, split units, exhaust and ventilation systems, pressurization systems, and associated equipment.
Perform heating and cooling load calculations and ventilation requirements for process and non-process buildings.
Design HVAC systems for control rooms, electrical rooms, substations, telecom rooms, analyzer shelters, administration buildings, workshops, warehouses, and other industrial facilities.
Ensure appropriate pressurization, filtration, ventilation, fresh-air and exhaust requirements for critical and hazardous areas.
Coordinate HVAC design with Civil, Architectural, Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, Piping, Process, Fire & Safety and other disciplines.
Review vendor drawings, technical submittals, equipment datasheets and engineering documents.
Participate in technical meetings with clients, consultants, vendors and project teams.
Ensure HVAC designs comply with project specifications, applicable international codes and standards, and client requirements.
Support preparation of BOQs, MTOs, technical specifications and procurement documentation.
Review contractor/vendor submissions and provide technical comments and recommendations.
Support construction, commissioning and troubleshooting teams with engineering clarifications.
Ensure all engineering deliverables are completed within project schedules and required quality standards.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Strong experience in HVAC design and engineering.
Minimum 7–12 years of relevant HVAC design experience, preferably in Petrochemical, Refinery, Oil & Gas, EPC or industrial projects.
Proven experience working with major EPC contractors, engineering consultants, or industrial clients.
Strong knowledge of HVAC design calculations, equipment selection, ventilation, pressurization and air-conditioning systems.
Experience with AutoCAD and relevant HVAC design/engineering software.
Good knowledge of applicable HVAC codes, standards and engineering practices.
Experience with project specifications, datasheets, design basis, calculations and technical documentation.
Saudi Aramco / SABIC / other major Oil & Gas client project experience will be an advantage.
Saudi Arabia / GCC project experience is preferred.
