Description

Position: Coating In-Charge (Pipeline – Internal & External ARAMCO)
Job Purpose:

To supervise and control all internal and external pipeline coating activities, ensuring full compliance with Saudi Aramco standards, project specifications, and approved procedures while maintaining the highest quality and HSE standards.

Key Responsibilities:
External Coating:
Supervise surface preparation (abrasive blasting), coating application, wrapping, and repair works.
Ensure compliance with FBE, 3LPE, 3LPP coating systems.
Monitor surface cleanliness as per ISO 8501 / SSPC standards (Sa 2? / Sa 3).
Ensure proper control of environmental conditions (dew point, humidity, temperature).
Conduct and coordinate inspections:
DFT (Dry Film Thickness)
Holiday (spark) testing
Adhesion testing
Surface profile measurement
Internal Coating:
Supervise internal pipe coating / lining activities (Epoxy / Liquid Coating / Cement Mortar Lining if applicable).
Ensure proper internal blasting and cleaning using automated blasting equipment.
Monitor coating application using spray systems or robotic/internal coating machines.
Verify curing, thickness, and uniformity of internal coating.
Conduct internal inspections using:
DFT gauges
Holiday detectors (if applicable)
Visual inspection tools / borescopes
Field Joint Coating (FJC):
Supervise field joint coating using:
Heat Shrink Sleeves (HSS)
Liquid Epoxy / PU
FBE repair systems
Ensure proper preheating, application, and post-heating processes.
General Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with ARAMCO standards (SAES-H, SAES-A, SAEP-302, SAEP-316, GI standards).
Coordinate with QA/QC for WIR, ITR, and inspection approvals.
Verify all materials are ARAMCO-approved and within shelf life.
Maintain daily reports, logs, and quality records.
Coordinate with pipeline construction, welding, lowering, and backfilling teams.
Identify defects and implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).
Manage manpower, equipment, and subcontractors.
Ensure strict compliance with HSE and permit-to-work system.
Minimum Requirements:
Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Chemical Engineering.
Minimum 8–12 years of experience in pipeline coating (internal & external).
Minimum 5 years in ARAMCO pipeline projects (mandatory).
Mandatory Certifications:
NACE Level II / BGAS / ICorr (Mandatory)
ARAMCO approval (Preferred)
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of:
Internal lining systems (Epoxy / Cement Mortar)
External coating systems (FBE / 3LPE / 3LPP)
Surface preparation standards (SSPC / NACE / ISO)
Familiar with ITP, Method Statements, QA/QC procedures
HSE Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with ARAMCO HSE standards
Conduct Toolbox Talks, Risk Assessments, and Safety Audits
Enforce PPE and safe work practices
Other Skills:
Strong leadership & team management
Good reporting and coordination skills
Ability to work in remote pipeline project locations
