Low Current (Low Voltage)
Technician installs, maintains, and repairs systems operating under 50 volts, including CCTV, fire alarms, data networks, and security systems. Key duties involve running cables (Cat6, fiber optic), programming devices, troubleshooting, and reading blueprints to ensure compliance with safety codes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
System Installation: Installing low voltage wiring and components for CCTV, access control, intercoms, fire alarms, and data networks.
Cable Management: Pulling, terminating, testing, and labeling cables, including fiber optics and structured cabling.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnosing, repairing, and conducting preventative maintenance on existing systems to ensure optimal functionality.
Programming & Commissioning: Configuring smart home devices, security panels, and integrated systems to operate according to specifications.
Blueprint Reading: Reviewing technical diagrams and blueprints to plan cable pathways and device placement.
Safety & Compliance: Adhering to electrical codes and safety regulations while performing duties.
Client Training & Support: Instructing users on how to operate installed systems.

Common Low Current Systems Worked On:
Security & Surveillance: CCTV surveillance, intrusion alarms, access control systems.
Communication & Data: Data networks (LAN/WAN), VoIP telephone systems, intercoms.
Safety & Infrastructure: Fire alarms and smoke detection systems.
Building Automation: Audio/Visual setups, smart home technologies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge of low-voltage electrical codes and standards.
Proficiency in using testing tools (multimeters, cable testers).
Strong troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read technical manuals and diagrams.
Strong communication skills for coordinating with clients and teams.
