Description

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Compliance Verification: Monitor welding processes to ensure adherence to approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Aramco Engineering Standards.
Inspection Activities: Perform visual and dimensional inspections (pre-heat, fit-up, root pass, final weld) to identify discontinuities.
Material Control: Verify base materials and filler materials (welding rods) are as specified and properly stored.
Documentation: Prepare daily/weekly inspection reports, NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), and maintain weld records/traceability.
NDT Coordination: Monitor and review Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) results, such as Radiographic (RT), Ultrasonic (UT), Magnetic Particle (MT), or Dye Penetrant (PT).
Safety Adherence: Ensure that all welding work is conducted safely in accordance with Aramco safety requirements.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Certification: AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or CSWIP 3.1/3.2, combined with passing the Aramco CBT (Computer Based Test).
Experience: Several years of experience in the oil and gas industry, specifically with piping, pipeline, or structural projects.
Knowledge: Thorough understanding of ASME B31.3/B31.4/B31.8, ASME Section IX, and API 1104 standards.
Technical Proficiency: Ability to interpret engineering drawings, isometric drawings, and welding symbols.
Common Inspection Phases:
Before Welding: Material verification, weld joint preparation, fit-up, cleanliness, and welder qualifications.
During Welding: Monitoring parameters (voltage, amperage, speed), preheat temperatures, and interpass cleaning.
After Welding: Visual inspection of finished welds, NDT review, and dimension check.
