UF / RO Specialist (Ultrafiltration & Reverse Osmosis)
Job Summary
The UF / RO Specialist is responsible for the design review, operation, optimization, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring of Ultrafiltration (UF) and Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems used in water and wastewater treatment plants. The role ensures system efficiency, water quality compliance, membrane integrity, and operational reliability in accordance with project specifications and international standards.

Key Responsibilities
Technical & Operational
• Operate, monitor, and optimize UF and RO systems to achieve target water quality and recovery rates.
• Perform system start-up, commissioning, and performance testing of UF and RO units.
• Monitor operating parameters (pressure, flux, recovery, TMP, salt rejection).
• Diagnose and troubleshoot operational issues such as fouling, scaling, pressure drop, and membrane damage.
• Develop and implement CIP (Clean-In-Place) procedures and chemical cleaning protocols.
• Evaluate membrane performance and recommend replacement or optimization strategies.

Maintenance & Reliability
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities for UF/RO equipment (membranes, pumps, valves, instruments).
• Review and update SOPs for operation, maintenance, and emergency response.
• Support spare parts management and chemical consumption optimization.

Quality, Safety & Compliance
• Ensure treated water meets required quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Comply with HSE policies during operation, chemical handling, and maintenance activities.
• Participate in risk assessments and operational safety reviews.

Documentation & Reporting
• Prepare operational reports, performance trends, and root cause analysis reports.
• Maintain accurate logs for production, downtime, chemical consumption, and membrane performance.
• Support as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and technical submissions.

Coordination & Support
• Work closely with operations, maintenance, laboratory, and automation teams.
• Provide technical support during audits, inspections, and client visits.
• Train operators and technicians on UF/RO operation and best practices.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 3–7 years of experience in UF and RO systems (industrial, municipal, or reuse applications).
• Hands-on experience with membrane systems, CIP skids, and dosing systems.
• Strong knowledge of water chemistry, membrane fouling mechanisms, and pretreatment processes.

Skills & Competencies
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and SCADA trends.
• Familiarity with international standards (ASTM, ISO, WHO).
• Proficiency in technical reporting and communication.
• Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred (Optional)
• Experience with seawater RO (SWRO) or industrial wastewater reuse systems.
• OEM training or certification (Toray, DuPont, Hydranautics, Pentair, etc.).
• Experience in commissioning and performance acceptance testing (PAT).
