Description

Key Responsibilities:

Shift Leadership:

• Assign operators and helpers; conduct pre‑shift briefings and end‑of‑shift handovers.
• Verify readiness of jobs (plates/sleeves, inks, anilox, substrates, approvals).
• Ensure adherence to SOPs, work instructions, and visual standards.

Production Planning & Control:

• Execute the daily/weekly production plan; sequence jobs to minimize changeovers.
• Monitor run speeds, uptime, material usage, and WIP levels.
• Escalate risks to plan and coordinate recovery actions.

Quality & Color Management:

• Approve first‑article samples; verify color to Pantone/L*a*b* targets and tolerances.
• Audit in‑process checks (registration, impression, defects, barcodes) and react promptly.
• Lead investigations for non‑conformances; implement and verify CAPA effectiveness.

Process Improvement & Lean:

• Reduce setup/changeover times and standardize best practices.
• Track and improve OEE, waste %, and right‑first‑time metrics.
• Facilitate 5S, visual management, and activities at the presses.

Maintenance Coordination:

• Log issues; prioritize and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Ensure proper care of anilox/doctor blade systems and plate/sleeve handling.
• Verify machine safety devices and interlocks are functional.

Materials & Inventory Control:

• Verify materials against job tickets; manage ink, plate/sleeve, anilox, and substrate inventories.
• Control returns of partials and ensure accurate scrap and consumption recording.
• Request replenishments and prevent stock‑outs.

Compliance & Safety (EHS):

• Enforce PPE use, chemical handling (MSDS), and safe machine operation.
• Conduct toolbox talks and near‑miss reporting; lead incident responses and corrective actions.
• Ensure area passes audits for safety, GMP/food safety (if applicable), and housekeeping.

Reporting & Documentation:

• Issue daily production reports (output, OEE, waste, downtime) and shift logs.
• Maintain job records, QC records, and traceability per policy.
• Support customer, certification, and internal audits with accurate documentation.

Customer & Technical Support:

• Support trials, new product introductions, and customer sample approvals.
• Communicate print feasibility, limitations, and improvement suggestions to Sales/Technical.
• Coordinate with Prepress/Graphics for artwork, plates, and color standards.

People Development & Training:

• Maintain skill matrices; coach and train operators on SOPs, quality, and safety.
• Conduct performance reviews and address attendance/discipline issues.
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.
