Responsibilities of a Scaffolding Yard In-Charge
1. Materials Management
Maintain accurate inventory of all scaffolding materials (tubes, couplers, boards, ladders, base plates, etc.)

Ensure proper stacking, tagging, and storage to prevent damage or loss.

Conduct regular stock checks and update records in the system/logbook.

Inspect all materials returning from sites and segregate damaged or unsafe items.

2. Safety & Quality Control
Ensure all scaffolding components meet safety and quality standards.

Implement proper yard safety procedures (PPE use, lifting methods, vehicle movement, etc.)

Coordinate periodic inspection and certification of scaffolding materials.

Report unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions are taken.

3. Yard Operations
Plan daily yard activities such as loading, unloading, cleaning, sorting, and dispatching.

Allocate tasks to yard staff, riggers, helpers, and forklift operators.

Ensure efficient turnaround time for material requests from site teams.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the entire yard.

4. Coordination & Communication
Liaise with site supervisors, scaffolding supervisors, and project managers regarding material needs.

Prepare delivery notes, material issue slips, return notes, and reconciliation reports.

Communicate delays, shortages, or material damage promptly.

5. Logistics & Dispatching
Prepare material bundles for transport according to site requirements.

Coordinate with drivers for timely dispatch and return of materials.

Ensure safe and compliant loading of scaffolding materials on trucks.

6. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly reports for material movement.

Keep records of damaged, repaired, and scrap materials.

Update tracking sheets, ERP records, or manual logbooks as required.

7. Personnel Management
Supervise yard workers and ensure they follow proper procedures.

Conduct training for new employees on yard safety and material handling.

Monitor staff performance and report manpower needs.

8. Maintenance & Repairs
Identify materials requiring repair or replacement.

Coordinate with maintenance teams or workshops for refurbishing scaffolding components.
