Description

Job Purpose

The Electrician is responsible for performing installation, maintenance, testing, fault-finding and repair of electrical systems in compliance with Saudi Aramco standards, specifications and safety requirements. The role ensures that all assigned electrical work is carried out efficiently, safely and to high quality standards on Aramco-controlled sites.

Key Responsibilities

Install, connect and terminate electrical systems, including low-voltage (LV) and possibly medium-voltage (MV) power circuits, lighting systems, small power, cable trays, cable ladders, conduits, motor control centres (MCCs), switchgear, etc.

Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, layout plans and installation instructions.

Carry out wiring for HVAC systems, DDC (Direct Digital Control) wiring/terminations, actuators and controls where required.

Perform testing and commissioning of electrical installations, including insulation resistance tests, continuity checks, grounding/earthing system verification, loop checks and functional testing.

Inspect and maintain electrical equipment and systems to ensure they meet Aramco specifications, quality standards, safety rules and company policies.

Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults promptly to minimize downtime and ensure operational safety.

Work with the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system: ensure proper isolation, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures, secure work permits, hazard controls and safe work clearance.

Maintain accurate records of work done, tests performed, spare parts used, and maintenance logs as required by Aramco standards.

Collaborate with site supervision, HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) teams, maintenance teams and contractors to coordinate electrical work in line with project schedule.

Comply with all site safety and environmental rules, wear required PPE, report hazards, and stop unsafe work if necessary.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum relevant trade qualification (Electrician certificate, Diploma in Electrical/Electro‐mechanical) or equivalent.

Proven hands-on experience (for example 3+ years) as an electrician or electrical technician, preferably in industrial, oil & gas or petrochemical projects, ideally with Aramco exposure.

Must have Aramco-approved electrician credentials or be eligible to obtain them as required by the contract/site.

Good understanding of Saudi Aramco engineering standards (SAES), codes (IEC, NEC), specifications and inspection/commissioning protocols.

Working Conditions & Environment

Site-based role; may involve working in industrial environments such as oil & gas facilities, refineries, process plants, or on large infrastructure projects.

May require working at heights, confined spaces, outdoors in variable weather conditions, around heavy equipment and electrical hazards.

Use of PPE mandatory, adherence to safety protocols and potential exposure to noise, dust, and hazardous conditions.

May involve working shifts, overtime, emergency call-outs depending on project demands.

Certification & Training

Aramco electrician approval or equivalent certification must be current and valid.

Electrical safety training (e.g., LOTO, hazardous area, working at heights) recommended.

Periodic refresher training as per company/site requirements.

Familiarity/certification in first aid, fire safety may be beneficial.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Percentage of electrical tasks completed safely and within schedule.

Number of electrical faults/unscheduled shutdowns attributable to electrician work (aim low).

Compliance with site inspection findings and zero major non-conformances in Aramco audits.

Timeliness and accuracy of documentation, commissioning reports, test results.

Adherence to safety metrics: zero recordable incidents, minimal stoppages for unsafe conditions.

Notes / Additional Information

The phrase “Aramco-Approved” means the electrician must adhere to or be recognised under Aramco’s contractor approval/qualification system, have valid credentials (or be in process) for working on Aramco sites.

Salary, benefits (accommodation, transport, overtime), contract length, and shift arrangements depend on the employer and project scope.

Mobility: candidate may need to relocate to the project site (often remote or industrial location) and abide by employer’s project mobilization conditions.
