Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fireproofing Spray Applicator to join our construction and maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the precise and efficient application of spray-applied fire-resistive materials (SFRM), intumescent coatings, and other fire-retardant materials. This role is crucial for ensuring the structural integrity of our clients' facilities in compliance with all relevant safety regulations and project specifications.
Key responsibilities
Surface preparation: Prepare surfaces by cleaning, masking, and removing any contaminants to ensure optimal adhesion of fireproofing materials.
Material preparation: Accurately mix and prepare fireproofing materials (e.g., cementitious and intumescent) according to manufacturer instructions and project specifications.
Application: Operate specialized spray equipment (e.g., airless spray guns, mixers) to apply fireproofing materials to structural steel, decks, concrete, and other surfaces at the specified thickness.
Quality control: Inspect completed work to ensure proper thickness, coverage, and finish quality, and perform any necessary touch-ups or repairs.
Equipment maintenance: Set up, operate, and maintain all spray equipment, hoses, and other tools. Perform daily cleaning and basic troubleshooting to ensure proper function.
Safety compliance: Adhere strictly to all site safety protocols, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), handling hazardous materials, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Reporting and communication: Track daily production rates, report any equipment or material issues, and communicate effectively with the supervisor and other team members.
Technical interpretation: Read and interpret spray charts, technical drawings, and project specifications to ensure accurate application.
Qualifications and skills
Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of hands-on experience as a spray painter or fireproofing applicator, preferably in industrial or large-scale construction projects.
Technical knowledge:
Proficient in operating and maintaining airless spray guns, pumps, and related equipment.
Good understanding of fireproofing materials, mixing ratios, and application techniques.
Able to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Safety training: Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures on construction sites. Experience working with PPE, including respirators and suits.
Certifications: Possession of any relevant certifications, such as those from Aramco (if applicable to specific projects), is highly advantageous.
Physical fitness: Physically capable of handling manual labor, lifting heavy materials, and working at heights or in confined spaces for extended periods.
Dependability: Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
Work environment
This is a full-time, site-based position.
Work is often performed in a challenging construction environment with exposure to dust, fumes, and varying weather conditions.
Flexibility for extended hours and potential weekend work may be required to meet project timelines.
