Job Title: Transportation leader
Job Summary:
The transportation leader is responsible for overseeing and supervising the management of transportation operations, including scheduling, route planning for the transportation operations of an organization. This role involves managing a team of drivers, ensuring compliance with road safety & traffic regulations, excellent fleet & driver management, and coordinating logistics to ensure efficient and timely delivery of goods and services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Team Management: Supervise and lead a team of drivers, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations.
• Route Optimization: Plan and optimize transportation routes to ensure timely deliveries while minimizing costs and fuel consumption.
• Compliance Oversight: Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
• Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule transportation activities, including pick-ups and deliveries, to meet customer demands.
• Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers and other departments regarding transportation issues, schedules, and updates.
• Performance Monitoring: Monitor driver performance and vehicle usage, implementing improvements as necessary to enhance efficiency and safety.
• Reporting: Prepare reports on transportation metrics, including delivery performance, costs, and compliance for management review.
• Monitoring; good management of preventive maintenance schedules, MVPI, vehicle registration, insurance renewals, Gate passes, and stickers required for all active affiliates' access. Settlement of Traffic fines, monitoring of Driver’s license validity, etc.
• Fleet Management: maintaining an accurate reporting system of all company vehicles, such as breakdowns, under repair, renewal of registration, under preventive maintenance, etc., thereby minimizing vehicle breakdowns and losses.
• Planning & flexibility: Able to manage and adapt to changes and has good planning skills, willing to attend to emergencies that the operations may require.
• Visionary: Able to think outside of the box, can provide new ideas on how to improve the existing transportation system and challenges of the company.
• Training: Train drivers and ensure that they are aware of the traffic rules and regulations, as well as road safety.
Qualifications:
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience:
• 3-5 years of experience in transportation or logistics management, with supervisory experience preferred.
Skills:
• Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management with the ability to motivate and guide staff effectively.
• Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple transportation projects and priorities.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to address challenges and implement effective solutions promptly.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with transportation management software and logistics tracking systems.
Work Environment:
• Primarily in an office setting, with potential visits to warehouses, affiliate job sites, or transport hubs, maintenance yards, and suppliers.
• May require working outside of regular business hours to coordinate operations and address issues.
• Flexibility in times of emergencies and urgent work requirements.
• 24/7 availability, especially to the upper management.
