JOB DESCRIPTION
To expand the EPS to the required density based on the products that are assigned daily. Organize the silo management and change the silos for molding when needed. The Pre-Expander job is also to do quality checks on the machines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare the Pre-Expander machine for its daily run (startup).
• Coordinate efforts with the Supervisor on the Production of machines and how much components to expand.
• Routine checks on the Pre-Expander machine and the Silos to make sure that expansion is working properly and performing at the expected standard and verify EPS beads are being transported to the correct silo for storage.
• Check Silos and document levels on the production sheet to ensure the correct silo is being used for daily production.
• Run a quality check for every hour for each EPS machine that is producing for the day (weighs webs to give to EPS Machine Operator, when it's produced, takes measurements, weights, conducts fusion test, and records on production sheet).
• Make sure all quality checks are done and transferred properly to the production sheet.
• Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
• Once a week, clean the Pre-expander machine thoroughly.
• Once a month, remove steam vents and clean them. Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system.
• Cross-trains on other production positions to provide assistance where/when necessary.
• Performs other related duties as required, requested, or assigned.
• Adjust equipment to meet pre-expanding standards.
• Record keeping of process and equipment.
• Reports all quality and mechanical issues to the Supervisor.
• Initiates, recommends, or provides solutions through the proper channels.
• Report all safety hazards to immediate Supervisors if not able to correct the issue.
• Maintain the area in the department as clean and functioning properly.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
• One to two years of related experience and/or training preferred.
• A High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Previous experience in a warehouse or plant is required.
• A forklift operator’s license is preferred, but not required, as training can be conducted on-site.
