Designation: Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Operator

Role Outline:



• To lead and organize the HDD team.

• Have technical and operational knowledge of HDD machine (MIDI & MAXI Series – VERMEER, DITCH WITCH, AMERICAN AUGER).

• Working knowledge of HDD tracking system.

• To manage a team of approximately 5 staff.

• To make sure the drilling team has all the tools including PPE, equipment, materials and vehicles required for the job before starting for the work site.

• To arrange any missing items before leaving to the work site, particularly down hole tools safety items such as warning barriers, duct materials, locators and gas testing equipment.

• To arrange the work site to ensure no delay in the work.

• To obtain details of existing utilities and locate on site exact position of utilities.

• To identify duct requirements ahead of schedule and supervise the welding or jointing to avoid any delay and make sure quality and safety standards followed.

• If hand excavation required for pipelines to make sure this is done in advance with the supervisor to avoid idle time and risk of damage.

• To observe all the safety and quality requirements of the company and client, make sure all staff wear protective safety equipment (PPE).

• Carry out quality and safety checks during the drilling operation and to use the check list supplied by the company management / QA management.

• To carry out company administration such as timesheets, log books, site diary and as built records / drawings.

• To identify any faults in the equipment and report to supervisor or repair as required.

• In the case of independent projects, operator shall be fully responsible for all the site activities such as coordination with the client. Identification of utilities, preparation of weekly timesheets, etc.

• To report to his Supervisor, Operations Manager for daily instructions and identify any requirements. To liaise with any other company staff and take instructions as necessary.

Other requirements: -

• Diploma or equivalent experience

• Work experience min. 5 years in operating MAXI HDD Rigs

• Experience in Saudi Arabia will be an added qualification

• Must drive & have Saudi driving license / international driving license

• Able to read, write and speak English.

• Local candidates must have transferable resident identity
