Job Description :

The Batch plants / 3rd party testing In-Charge is responsible for overseeing all laboratory and material testing activities at the project site. This role ensures that all tests and material inspections are performed in accordance with relevant standards, project specifications, and quality control procedures. The lab in charge will also be accountable for managing laboratory personnel, coordinating with third-party labs, maintaining records, and generating timely and accurate test reports.

Key Responsibilities:
• Laboratory Management & Supervision
o Must be an expert on Asphalt Mix design marshall/Superpave
o Manage daily operations of the materials testing laboratory (soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, etc.).
o Supervise and direct lab technicians and assistants.
• Testing & Inspection
o Oversee all material testing activities, including sampling, testing, and analysis.
o Ensure testing methods comply with applicable standards (ASTM, AASHTO, BS, or project-specific).
o Validate all test results before submission and reporting.
o Perform quality checks on materials delivered to the site and/or used in construction.
• Documentation & Reporting
o Maintain accurate records of all testing and inspection activities.
o Prepare and issue material test reports in a timely manner.
o Keep logs for test results, calibration certificates, and material approvals.
o Prepare monthly material status reports and dashboards.
• Compliance & Quality Assurance
o Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures, project specifications, and contractual requirements.
o Identify non-conformances and coordinate with QA/QC teams to address quality issues.
• Coordination
o Liaise with construction teams, consultants, clients, and third-party labs for inspections and testing requirements.
o Support mix design trials for concrete, asphalt, CLSM, and other materials as needed.
o Coordinate approval of material sources and suppliers.
• Calibration & Maintenance
o Ensure that all testing equipment is regularly calibrated and maintained.
o Keep records of calibration certificates and maintenance logs.

Qualifications & Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• Have MOT certified for Superpave
• Minimum [10+] years of experience in a material laboratory or QC environment, preferably on large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of international material testing standards (ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, etc.).
• Familiarity with QMS, ISO 17025, and lab accreditation processes is a plus.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and experience with lab management systems is preferred.
