Description

A maintenance engineer's job is to ensure that industrial machinery and equipment runs smoothly and reliably. They do this by:
Designing maintenance strategies: Creating procedures, methods, and checklists for maintenance
Performing maintenance: Carrying out routine maintenance, responding to equipment breakdowns, and repairing equipment
Diagnosing faults: Identifying and diagnosing problems with equipment
Improving safety: Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and improving health and safety policies and procedures
Managing costs: Monitoring and controlling maintenance costs
Communicating: Liaising with customers, other engineering and production colleagues, and external contractors
Supervising: Supervising contractors, engineering, and technical staff.
