Job Description
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary team ( restaurant similar to joe & the juice). The Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef to manage all aspects of the kitchen, including menu planning, food preparation, kitchen staff management, and maintaining high culinary standards. The ideal candidate is passionate about cooking, has strong leadership skills, and is capable of maintaining a high level of efficiency and quality in the kitchen.



Key Responsibilities:



Assist in Menu Planning: Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and update menus, ensuring a balance of creativity, seasonality, and cost-effectiveness.

Food Preparation: Hands-on and prepare with the team. Also, Oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals to ensure consistency and quality according to established recipes and standards.

Kitchen Management: Supervise kitchen staff, including line cooks and prep cooks, ensuring they follow proper procedures, maintain cleanliness, and work efficiently.

Training and Development: Provide training to kitchen staff, ensuring that all team members are knowledgeable about menu items, preparation techniques, and kitchen safety standards.

Inventory Management: Assist with ordering supplies, managing inventory, and minimizing waste to ensure cost-effective operations.

Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure that the kitchen adheres to all health and safety regulations, including proper food storage, handling, and sanitation practices.

Quality Control: Monitor the quality of dishes served, conducting regular tastings and inspections to maintain high culinary standards.

Collaborate with Front-of-House: Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service, address any issues, and maintain a positive guest experience.

Act as Executive Chef in Their Absence: Take full responsibility for the kitchen operations when the Executive Chef is not available.

Qualifications:





Skills
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a high-volume restaurant or hotel.

Strong understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.

Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
