Key Accountabilities:

• Create technical diagrams, calculations, and specifications sheets.
• Calculate amount of materials and equipment needed.
• Resolve any mechanical planning issues and develop effective solutions.
• Produce shop drawings, using computer-assisted drafting systems (CAD) or drafting machines, and other drafting devices.
• Draft plans and detailed drawings for construction projects, such as homes, commercial buildings, and other structures from sketches or notes.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, and electrical designs and determine a method of presentation to graphically represent building plans.
• Analyze building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on architectural designs.
• Draw maps, diagrams, and profiles, using cross-sections and surveys, to represent elevations and sections.
• Print CAD drawing schematics for use by architects, construction managers, and structural and maintenance engineers.
• Supervise and train other technologists, technicians, and drafters.
• Conduct field surveys, inspections, or technical investigations to obtain data required to revise construction drawings.
• Explain drawings to production or construction teams and provide adjustments as necessary.
• Obtain and assemble data to complete electrical designs, visiting job sites to compile measurements as necessary.
• Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data to ensure that they conform to design concepts.

Key Job Specifications:

Diploma in machinal engineering or a related field.
+ 4 years experience in commercial buildings, hotels, and residential buildings.
