As a Motor Winder, your responsibilities entail taking steps to assemble, repair, and maintain electric motors. Your duties have you working to rewind and produce coils; replace and prepare components, such as the stator core for winding or the wound motor for dipping; test the engine to ensure that repairs were successful; and perform final inspections. You typically work on a variety of equipment, such as electric vehicle motors and generators, and you maintain and repair other electromechanical and electromagnetic equipment as well. You may even take part in the manufacturing of new electrical components and motors.

Job Description:
• Assembles and tests electric motor and generator stators, armatures, or rotors: Inspects cores for defects and aligns laminations, using hammer and drift.
• Files burrs from core slots, using hand file, portable power file, and scraper.
• Lines slots with sheet insulation and inserts coils into slots.
• Cuts, strips, and bends wire leads at ends of coils, using pliers and wire scrapers.
• Twists leads together to connect coils.
• Taps coil and end windings to shape, using hammer and fiber block.
• Winds new coils on armatures, stators, or rotors of used motors and generators.

Required Qualification & Skills:
• High School Diploma with minimum of 3 years’ experience specifically in winding AC/DC electric motor stators, both random and form coil, armatures, and field frames
• Significant mechanical knowledge and/or experience
• Highly motivated self-performer with good organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Basic computer skills
