Job Descripton: Estimation Engineer
Job Summary:
As an estimation engineer with a focus on pre-contract activities, you will play a pivotal role in the
project lifecycle by providing accurate cost estimates, conducting detailed quantity surveys,
preparation of bid document and effectively managing pre-contract commercial aspects. Your
expertise will contribute to successful tender submissions and enable us to secure projects while
maintaining profitability and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cost Estimation: Prepare comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for civil engineering
projects, considering all aspects of materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
2. Quanτ€†Ÿty Surveying: Conduct detailed quantity surveys and take-offs from engineering
drawings and specifications, ensuring precise measurement of quantities for project pricing.
3. Tender Management: Manage the tendering process, including analyzing project
requirements, identifying subcontractors and suppliers, and soliciting competitive bids.
4. Commercial Analysis: Analyze project budgets, cost breakdowns, and variations, identifying
potential risks and opportunities for cost savings.
5. Contract Documentation: Prepare and review contract documents, ensuring compliance
with project specifications, and terms and conditions.
6. Pre-Contract Negotiation: Engage in negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers to
secure favorable pricing and terms.
7. Value Engineering: Collaborate with engineering and design teams to explore value
engineering options that optimize costs without compromising quality.
8. Market Research: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market rates, and material costs to
inform accurate estimations.
9. Bid Preparation: Assist in the preparation of competitive and comprehensive bid packages
for submission to clients.
10. Project Handover: Facilitate smooth handover of tendered projects to the execution team,
providing all necessary documentation and cost analysis.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in civil estimation and quantity surveying, with a significant
focus on pre-contract activities.
• Proficiency in estimation software and tools.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and labor costs.
• Proven track record of successful tender submissions and securing projects.
• Sound knowledge of contract management and commercial aspects of construction.
Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills for precise estimations and quantity surveys.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills for effective subcontractor and supplier
interactions.
• Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in cost estimates and contract documentation.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Time management skills to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
