Job Description: Electrical Engineer

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our contracting company. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing electrical systems and solutions for various construction projects. Your expertise will contribute to the successful completion of electrical installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting tasks.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in electrical engineering principles, possesses excellent problem-solving skills, and can effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

1. Electrical System Design:
Design and develop electrical systems for construction projects, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and control systems. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.

2. Project Planning and Coordination:
Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines to establish project scopes, objectives, and timelines. Participate in project planning and coordination meetings to ensure effective integration of electrical systems within the overall project design.

3. Technical Documentation:
Prepare detailed electrical engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation necessary for construction and installation activities. Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other project-related documents.

4. Equipment Selection and Procurement:
Identify and select appropriate electrical equipment, devices, and materials based on project requirements and specifications. Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to procure equipment and ensure timely delivery.

5. Installation and Testing:
Oversee and support electrical installation activities, including equipment layout, wiring, cable routing, and connection termination. Conduct tests, inspections, and commissioning activities to verify system functionality, safety, and compliance with design specifications.

6. Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures to identify and resolve electrical system issues. Develop and implement maintenance plans to ensure the long-term performance and reliability of installed electrical systems.

7. Compliance and Safety:
Ensure adherence to electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards throughout all project phases. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards or non-compliance issues.

8. Team Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, structural engineers, contractors, and technicians, to ensure effective coordination and integration of electrical systems with other project components.

9. Project Monitoring and Reporting:
Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or delays, and provide regular updates to project stakeholders. Prepare technical reports, progress documentation, and cost estimates as required.

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is preferred.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is highly desirable.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer in a contracting or construction environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, codes, and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC).
- Proficiency in electrical design software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
- Experience with electrical system modeling and analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools).
- Familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) and its application in electrical design.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality work.
- Knowledge of sustainable and energy-efficient electrical design practices is a plus.
